The power of social impact through live experiences

Over the past few months, social impact has become a much bigger part of our conversations at Freestyle.

Not in a heavy or corporate way, but in a genuinely exciting one.

We’ve found ourselves talking more and more about the role events can play in creating something positive beyond the experience itself. What opportunities exist around the edges of a project? Who else could benefit from what we are building? How do we leave something behind which lasts a little longer than the final applause or the de-rig?

And the more we talk about it, the more possibilities seem to appear.

Live events naturally bring people together. They create temporary communities, shared experiences and moments of collective achievement. There is energy in that. Belonging in that. People meet, learn, contribute and often leave feeling part of something bigger than themselves, even if only for a short period of time. It feels like there is huge potential to build on that more intentionally.

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to support projects using local staffing solutions, offer work experience placements on-site, repurpose event materials back into local communities and work with venues and caterers to reduce waste and create more conscious food and catering approaches. Some of these things were planned from the outset, others evolved naturally through conversations with clients, suppliers and local partners.

Those moments often stay with us just as much as the event itself.

Some of the most meaningful conversations we’ve had recently have centred around exactly this. How events can create confidence, open doors and help people feel seen, included and capable.

At Freestyle, we are now looking at how we can shape more of this thinking into the way we work moving forwards, including developing local workforce opportunities and expanding our work experience offer connected to live events and experiences.

We know we will not have all the answers immediately and we are still learning ourselves, but it feels like an important and genuinely positive direction to move in.

There is something quite powerful about bringing people together to create experiences whilst also creating opportunity alongside them.

And perhaps that is where the real value sits. Not just in what happens during an event, but in what continues afterwards.

We’d genuinely love to connect with others thinking about this too, whether that’s businesses looking to create more meaningful impact through their events or community groups and individuals who would like to be part of the conversation.

If this resonates or challenges your thinking, we’d love to hear from you.
